Group:  maximum of 25 in total  (retreat group has use of the cottages and tranquil gardens (optional use of swimming pool £4.00 per hour)

Focus: guided meditation, silent meditation, learning about Buddhism, stretching exercises

Your teacher

We are excited to have the Venerable monk Phra Nicholas Thanissaro to teach our meditation classes again. We are honoured to welcome him as our main speaker as he has an abundance of experience and insightful knowledge to share with all of us during the retreat.

He has been a monk for 24 years, with 35 years of meditation experience, and is a qualified UK Complementary Medical Association teacher of meditation.

He is a UK Complementary Medical Association qualified teacher of meditation. Affiliated with the Dhammakaya Foundation, he is also qualified as a school teacher and MBTI practitioner. As a scholar-practitioner, during his time as Associate Fellow at the University of Warwick, he published widely in peer-reviewed journals on the formation of Buddhist identity in teenagers and continues to research the appeal of meditation in the West. He currently lectures in ‘Living Buddhism’ and ‘Religious Individualization’ at Claremont School of Theology, California and Willamette University, Oregon. His latest book, exploring Buddhist diversity through Psychological Type, is entitled ‘The Intuitive Buddhist’.

Venue & Accommodation

The venue is a charming country house, set in its own beautiful grounds, dedicated to hosting retreats, based in Yeovil, Somerset.

For our Weekend Retreat, our group will have full and exclusive use of the venue, including a lounge, dining room, quiet areas, gardens and a fantastic on site yoga studio surrounded by lush gardens allowing you the opportunity to practice silent meditation or contemplations.

Food & Facilities

Meals are homemade and prepared with care and dedication. You will have full and exclusive use of the house, meditation studio, as well as the opportunity to walk and contemplate in its surrounding lush grounds, ponds and gardens. Exclusive use of swimming pool for an additional fee.

Currently there are no special COVID restrictions in place, but if this proves to be necessary closer to the event, we will inform you for any updates.

Cancellation Policy and refunds

If you cancel your retreat place by July 3rd 2022, then a refund of the amount will be returned.
